About Our Program

Structure and Funding of Crime Stoppers

Stanislaus Area Crime Stoppers is a non-profit organization serving the community and assisting local law enforcement in the apprehension of wanted suspects and unsolved crimes.

Crime Stoppers is comprised of diverse, active and dedicated community representatives. Crime Stoppers provides a method for local law enforcement to receive information on crimes and for the public to proactively help their communities. These efforts increase tips, which in turn increase arrests and contribute to public safety.

Crime Stoppers relies on volunteer Directors and tax deductible contributions from the public in order to operate the administration of the program.

Crime Stoppers Programs are organized as a not-for-profit organization (Charity). A civilian community board of directors provides direction as to the financial and promotional activities of the program. The board of directors enhances the community involvement aspect, and its function is vital to the programs success.

The Crime Stoppers Program is funded by private donations and fundraising. NO TAX DOLLARS are involved. The reward money paid out by the program is from fund raising and donations from supporting citizens and businesses.

A community Board of Directors, made up of persons from throughout the area, meets on a monthly basis to evaluate tips and to decide on the size of rewards to be paid, up to $1,000. Rewards are then distributed anonymously, please make sure to save your tip number and any log in information.
